As a father of 2, step father of 2, and grandfather of 4, I am proud to be a strong believer in the right to life.  I support the sanctity of human life as a gift from our Creator as proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence.
 
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
 
Our country was formed with God in the hearts and minds of our founding fathers.  The Declaration of Independence was written before our Constitution and is the basis for establishing our freedom and Independence.
 
"When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
 
Over the past several decades there have been numerous attempts by the enemies of our country to undermine our Declaration of Independence with scientific falsehoods like Global Warming to put us under the yoke of foreign leaders and some unidentified form of Global Governance.  I oppose these deceptions and will strongly oppose any attempt to undermine our freedoms in this manner.  This however is not the only deception that threatens our way of life.  Deceptions about personal success and failure abound.  One of these is the notion that bringing an unplanned child into the world will result in hardship or failure.  That is not the case and has been proved false by families across the land.  Children make us more responsible and bring love and joy into a home.
 
When an individual has to deal with an unexpected pregnancy which comes about by free choice it is important that those involved include their family in the planning process and not a government agency like Planned Parenthood.  Becoming a parent is not always planned, but it is a blessing. 
 
It is imperative that the family be involved in the decision making process.  Opinions from the family of what to do will vary.  The decision to live up to their responsibilities make those involved much stronger and more successful. 
 
This is not an issue of choice, it is a matter of personal responsibility.  The choice is always made up front before any conception.  We must encourage our children to make their choices wisely especially in the areas of personal responsibility in any type of relationship they have.  My position is to choose life.
 
 
Traditional Marriage
 
Another area of deception is the question of what constitutes marriage.  Although homosexual rights groups will try to conceal their intentions as an issue of equality or Constitutional rights, this is not the case.  Marriage is the union of two individuals of the opposite sex.  When a man makes a commitment to a woman that is far different than a man committing to another man or a woman committing to another woman. 
 
Creating a bond between two individuals, each of the opposite sex is both unique and special.  That is why it has been sanctified throughout history with marriage. 
 
I was raised Catholic and in the Catholic church marriage is a sacrament, an outward sign that conveys spiritual grace.  A sacrament is a religious symbol.  Other sacraments include baptism.  Regardless of what one's faith is, the attempt to change the definition of marriage is an attempt to use the government to affect religious doctrine through legislative action.  This is a violation of the very 1st Amendment to our Constitution. 
 
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
 
So the very first line of the very first amendment is under attack by those who want to change the definition of marriage.
 
It is imperative that our political leaders adhere to the values of our founding fathers who wrote both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.  The very first right is the right to life, and the very first amendment is the respect of religious freedom.
 
So when I get to Sacramento, I will stay true to these two very important values.
