2nd Amendment to the Constitution
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the
right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
When our founding fathers wrote the second amendment they knew full well the dangers of overbearing big government policies. It was clear to them that people needed a right to protect and defend themselves in order to maintain freedom from tyranny.
Over the years there have been many cases brought before the Supreme Court that have attempted to weaken or eliminate this right. Each time the Supreme Court has upheld the Second Amendment rights. This right is individually held and it protects "the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation," including "all instruments that constitute bearable arms"
The inherent right of self defense has been central to the Second Amendment right.
This right is crucial in keeping us free and is what makes our country strong. It separates us from the tyrannical dictatorships around the world.
I fully support the Second Amendment right to bear arms and I am a member of the NRA. I also oppose the attempt to over tax and over regulate ammunition as a means to subvert our Second Amendment Rights.
I will always stand by the Constitution, especially the rights granted to us in
the Bill of Rights. I grew up in the Boston area, the heart of our original fight
for freedom. Tea Party ideals are part of my character. I have been to Bunker Hill, Lexington and Concord, and on the decks of the USS Constitution.
Last year when I was asked to participate in a video of an event in Escondido,
CA I decided to focus specifically on the Bill of Rights, because if we lose those, we lose our freedoms. Here is a video of that event.
It was an honor to participate in this event.
